ESTELA ISLA

MA, LMFT

I began my undergraduate career by receiving my bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Berkeley. Afterward, I began working in the mental health field as a case manager for four years while I began graduate school at Pepperdine University. I transitioned to a mental health therapist position towards the end of my master’s program and completed my degree. Shortly thereafter, I became licensed by the Board Of Behavioral Science as a marriage and family therapist. I continue to build my skills and knowledge through many trainings and educational courses as well.

I have evidence-based practice certifications in the following:

  • Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Managing and Adapting Practice
  • The Incredible Years Program: The Parenting Program: School Age Basic Program
  • The Incredible Years Program: Child Training: Small Group Dinosaur Curriculum
  • Seeking Safety

Obtaining these certifications has allowed me to practice useful interventions with clients. In order to become certified in evidence-based practices, therapists must submit extensive material to demonstrate their knowledge on the practice. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults.

I have experience working with adults and children with trauma/PTSD, depression, anxiety, behavior issues, identity issues, and immigration/adjustment issues.

I have conducted individual psychotherapy, family therapy, couples therapy, and group psychotherapy sessions. I am here to work with you depending on your needs.

I commend you on your efforts to obtain therapy services and wish you the best on your new journey.
