ESTELA ISLA

MA, LMFT

I earned my bachelor’s degree from University of California, Berkeley before beginning my career in the mental health field as a case manager, where I worked for four years while pursuing my graduate studies at Pepperdine University. Toward the completion of my master’s program, I transitioned into a therapist role and shortly thereafter became licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

I remain committed to ongoing professional growth through continued education, specialized training, and evidence-based practice development to better support the individuals and families I work with.

My evidence-based practice certifications include:

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
  • Managing and Adapting Practice (MAP)
  • The Incredible Years® Parenting Program: School Age Basic Program
  • The Incredible Years® Child Training: Small Group Dinosaur Curriculum
  • Seeking Safety

These certifications required extensive training, supervision, and demonstrated competency in each treatment model. They have equipped me with practical, research-supported interventions tailored to meet the unique needs of each client.

I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults facing challenges related to trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, identity exploration, and immigration or life adjustment issues.

My clinical experience includes providing individual therapy, family therapy, couples counseling, and group psychotherapy. I strive to create a supportive, collaborative, and compassionate environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered throughout their therapeutic journey.

Seeking therapy is a meaningful and courageous step, and I commend you for investing in your personal growth and well-being. I look forward to supporting you on your journey toward healing and positive change.
